Performance and image quality

The RX100 series has always been about exceptional image quality in a camera the size of a pack of playing cards, and this latest iteration falls in line with that. Particular attention has been paid to burst shooting and video quality, and stills image quality is largely unchanged from the Mark IV - which is to say it's still very good.

Image Quality

Our latest test scene simulates both daylight and low-light shooting. Pressing the 'lighting' buttons at the top of the widget switches between the two. The daylight scene is manually white balanced to give neutral grays, but the camera is left in its Auto setting for the low-light tests. Raw files are manually corrected. We offer three different viewing sizes: 'Full', 'Print', and 'Comp', with the latter two offering 'normalized' comparisons by using matched viewing sizes. The 'Comp' option chooses the largest-available resolution common to the cameras being compared.

The DJI Mavic Pro is a small yet powerful drone that turns the sky into your creative canvas easily and
without worry, helping you make every moment an aerial moment. Its compact size hides a high degree of complexity that
makes it one of DJI’s most sophisticated flying cameras ever. 24 high-performance computing cores, an all-new transmission
system with a 4.3mi (7km*) range, 5 vision sensors, and a 4K camera stabilized by a 3-axis mechanical gimbal,
are at your command with just a push of your thumb or a tap of your finger.

FLY FURTHER
Inside the Mavic’s pocket-sized remote controller is DJI’s brand new OcuSync transmission technology, with a range of 4.3mi (7km*) and Full HD 1080p video streaming.

PRECISION HOVER
Satellite positioning can only help a drone hover in an unobstructed outdoor area free of interference. Without satellites, the drone will not be able to position and become susceptible to drifting. However, with forward and downward vision sensors, the Mavic can hover precisely indoors or in places without GPS.

STAY FLYING LONGER
The Mavic is only 1/6th the size of the Phantom 4 but this reduction in size doesn't mean a reduction in flight time. The Mavic actually flies much longer than you would expect from its compact size. It is capable of reaching an absolute max flight time of 27 minutes and a maximum distance of 8mi (13km) due to its powerful, high efficiency motors.

GoPro has today announced two updates to its action cam line-up. The HERO 5 Black is GoPro's new flagship model and is waterproof down to 33 feet (10 meters) without a housing. Its 1/2.3" sensor is capable of shooting video up to 4K resolution at 30 frames per second or 12MP still images in JPEG or Raw format.

The camera features and parameters can be controlled via a 2" touch display or a range of voice controls. There is also a button to start and stop recording. Stereo sound is recorded via three built-in microphones that feature GoPro's advanced wind noise reduction. The electronic video stabilization has been further improved and the camera comes with a built-in GPS module.
The HERO 5 Session comes in the same ultra-compact display-less form factor as the original Session but has been upgraded all around and offers many of the same features as the HERO 5 Black. Like its top-end sibling, the HERO 5 Session is waterproof without a housing to 33 Feet (10 meters) and features voice control. It can record 4K video at 30 frames per second but still images are, compared to the HERO 5 Black, captured at a slightly lower 10MP resolution and the Raw format is not supported.

FUJIFILM BRINGS EASY SELFIES AND ENDLESS FUN WITH THE NEW X-A3 MIRRORLESS CAMERA

As a leader in advanced digital camera technology and outstanding image quality, FUJIFILM North America Corporation today announced the new FUJIFILM X-A3, a compact mirrorless camera with a large, 180 degree tilting touch LCD, eleven film simulations and ten advanced filters, all in a retro, classic design.

The X-A3 features a newly-developed 24.2MP APS-C sensor that produces crisp images in a wide range of shooting conditions, and excels in naturally reproducing skin tones, textures and colors.

Updated Design with Enhanced Textures and Touchscreen

The FUJIFILM X-A3 features a retro design that will appeal to a younger generation and gives a fresh impression of sophisticated photography. The top cover, front plate and top dials are made of aluminum. The newly-developed faux leather has significantly enhanced the overall texture. The LCD on the rear uses a touchscreen that offers “Touch AF,” “Touch Shoot” and “Touch Zoom,” for easy pinch-out finger gestures to zoom in and out.

Selfies First

The FUJIFILM X-A3 grip is designed to accommodate normal shooting and self-portraits effortlessly. The X-A3 has an ergonomic design that is based on real-world feedback from hundreds of casual photographers. The rear LCD employs a slide-and-tilt mechanism so that it is not blocked by the camera body when tilted 180 degrees to maintain 100% visibility. Users will be able to view the entire screen for precise selfie composition.

When taking a selfie, users can focus and release the shutter by pressing the vertical command dial, found directly below your index finger that also minimizes camera shake. The new Self Timer function now offers Smile Detection, Buddy Timer and Group Timer modes. Even without having to press the command dial or release button, the shutter is released when subjects smile, when two people come close together, or when a specified number of people come into the frame. The X-A3 also automatically activates Eye Detection AF when the rear LCD is titled upwards, and the Portrait Enhancer mode now offers three-step adjustments, using touchscreen operations. The addition of the skin-tone brightening function takes your portrait photography to a new level.

Get Creative with the X-A3

The X-A3 offers a total of eleven Film Simulation modes. Enjoy Fujifilm’s original expressions of tonality, such as the true-to-life colors of PROVIA (standard), the vibrant tones and saturated colors of Velvia (vivid), the soft tones of ASTIA (soft) or the documentary-style tones of CLASSIC CHROME. JOHAN PHOTO - Announcement on August 25, 2016 19:37

The Canon EOS 5D series is arguably one of the most recognizable camera lines of the digital age and the Mark IV is designed to appeal to the same wide range of enthusiasts and professionals. Nearly identical-looking toS its predecessor, it receives substantial upgrades under the hood, including: a higher-resolution sensor with Dual Pixel autofocus, 4K video capture, an upgraded AF system, a touchscreen, improved weather-sealing, built-in Wi-Fi/NFC and GPS. All this adds up to a camera that fits into Canon's product line nicely as the all-around full-frame option.

It is built around a new 30.4MP CMOS sensor and uses the Digic 6+ processor. The AF system is from the flagship 1D X Mark II and contains 61 AF points (41 of which are cross-type) with up to 24% expanded vertical coverage compared with the system in the Mark III. The center point is sensitive to -3EV in One Shot (AF-S) mode (in Live View the sensor is sensitive to -4EV with a fast lens).

4K video capture is a welcome addition to this camera and users can record in either 24 or 30p, albeit with a 1.64x crop. All footage is captured as Motion JPEG. Additionally, the camera allows for 4K Frame Grabs, effectively giving users 30 fps stills shooting with (Dual Pixel) AF. The usefulness of this may depend on how well-controlled the camera's rolling shutter is, and how acceptable 8.8MP, ~17:9 JPEGs are to you, but we've been impressed by how effective 4K/60p video capture on the 1D X II has been for capturing the decisive moment still.

Canon 5D Mark IV Key Specifications

What's new on the X-E2S

*An 'Auto' button on the rear, which puts the camera into a point-and-shoot 'Scene Recognition' mode similar to the auto lever on the top of the Fujifilm X-T10 (this button is also reassignable)

*When shooting in Auto ISO, the X-E2S will attempt to detect motion in the scene and raise the minimum shutter speed automatically, if needed

*Maximum 'boosted' ISO comes in at 51200 (JPEG only)

*Tweaked grip, top plate loses the 'Fujinon Lens System' engraving

*Rear four-way controller now defaults to AF point selection, but all buttons remain customizable

As you can see, there's really not much in it between the two cameras — the changes are almost 'nitpicky.' More importantly, everything that we loved about the X-E2 is still here in the X-E2S: attractive retro design, plentiful and customizable controls, and most importantly, solid image quality.

In some ways, though, the X-E2 models are starting to show their age. There are cameras out there that offer better autofocus performance, better video capture and higher resolution. But they aren't all likely to offer the level of direct control, quality of this user experience, or as thorough a useful lens lineup as the X-E2/X-E2S.

And speaking of lenses, you'll pay more for the Fuji kit lens than you might on another entry-level camera, but this XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 lens is better built, sharper and has a wider aperture than any competitors' F3.5-5.6 bundled zooms. It will be more than enough to satisfy users that aren't looking to build up a lens portfolio or swap lenses very often.

JOHAN PHOTO - Announcement on July 29, 2016 13:22

This 50mm prime lens features a large F1.4 maximum aperture that offers impressive contrast and outstanding resolution that are hallmarks of the ZEISS® brand. It produces these consistently strong qualities throughout the entirety of the frame – from center to corner – and at all aperture settings, even while shooting wide open at F1.4. The cutting edge optical structure includes high-precision AA (Advanced Aspherical) and ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements that reduce spherical and chromatic aberration, as well as a ZEISS® T* Coating that minimizes flare and ghosting creating the classic ZEISS® clarity. Additionally, its Planar design ensures minimal distortion.

The large F1.4 maximum aperture of the FE 50mm F1.4ZA lens provides a level of brightness and speed that are advantageous for dimly lit indoor shots, night scenes, and portraits, while its 11-bladed circular aperture allows for stunning “bokeh”, or background defocus, in images. The lens also features an aperture ring with an adjustable ON/OFF switch, an AF/MF focus mode switch, and a dust and moisture resistant design¹, further increasing its functionality.

The new lens is also equipped with a ring drive SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) system, which allows it to efficiently lock focus with speed, precision and in near silence, making it particularly useful for shooting movies.

Sony has unveiled the Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 III, surpassing the zoom range of its predecessor with a 24-600mm equiv. F2.4-4 lens. The camera uses the same 1"-type stacked CMOS sensor which produces 20MP stills as well as 4K/UHD video, and does not replace the RX10 II, which continues in Sony's lineup.

The RX10 III's sizable lens makes room for aperture, focus and zoom rings, as well as a focus hold button. The camera offers an XGA OLED EVF with 2.36 million dots, as well as a tilting LCD. The body is dust and moisture resistant. Sony claims that its SteadyShot stabilization system offers up to 4.5 stops of benefit.

The Cyber-shot RX10 III's lens features eight ED glass elements, including two ED aspherical and one Super ED glass elements. A SteadyShot stabilization system provides up to 4.5 stops of benefit, according to Sony.
An updated shutter provides a fast read-out 'anti-distortion' electronic shutter up to 1/32,000sec as well as a silent shooting mode. Wi-Fi and NFC have also come along for the ride.

Sony's New Cyber-shot RX10 III Camera Brings Extended Zoom Capability to Acclaimed RX Line

The impressive 24-600mm ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T* lens on the Cyber-shot RX10 III camera features a large maximum aperture of F2.4 – F4.0, helping it achieve outstanding image quality throughout the entire zoom range, all the way up to ultra-telephoto. This differentiates it from many other high-zoom lenses that often struggle with light-gathering at longer focal lengths. The aperture unit itself has nine blades that are designed to create a near perfect circle in the F2.4 – F11 range, enabling shooters to create content with beautiful bokeh, where the subject stands out against a softly defocused background.

In total, the extended zoom lens features eight ED glass elements including one super ED glass element, five ED glass elements and two ED aspherical lenses, which all work together to minimize chromatic aberration and deliver high-contrast, ultra-sharp image quality. It also has ZEISS® T* Coating for minimizing flare and ghosting and delivering accurate, faithful color reproduction.

The new lens has built-in Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization that helps to reduce camera shake and image blur, in particular when shooting at longer focal lengths. When active, the OSS is equivalent to shooting at a shutter speed approximately 4.5 stops3 faster than the current setting of the camera.

Additionally, with a minimum focusing distance of 72 cm (2.36 ft) and 0.49x maximum magnification at a fully extended 600mm, the new lens is capable of producing amazingly detailed tele-macro images.

High Quality 4K Movie Recording

The new RX10III model becomes the latest and most versatile Cyber-shot RX camera to offer the advantages of 4K (QFHD 3840x2160) movie recording thanks to its far-reaching 24-600mm lens, which gives videographers the luxury of shooting high quality 4K video from extreme distances.

In 4K video mode, the RX10 III camera utilizes full pixel readout without pixel binning, capturing approximately 1.7x more information than is required for 4K movie output to enhance image detail and minimize moiré and jaggies. It achieves these high-quality results through use of the XAVC S codec, which records video at a high data rate of up to 100 Mbps during 4K recording and up to 50 Mbps during full HD recording5.
